The Magical Town of Viesca, in Coahuila, keeps a small corner in the desert that presents a wonderful opportunity to get away from the most crowded vacation areas and to enter in harmony with nature; the Dunes of Bilbao.
Extending in an area of 17 hectares, have been equipped with several amenities so that tourists can go without having to carry a lot of luggage, in addition to only ask for a small recovery fee.
Already in the area you can observe flora and fauna typical of its semi-desert climate, such as hawks, roadrunners, coyotes; and some endangered species, such as the sand lizard. For this reason it is very important to take care of the facilities and not leave trash, it is a protected natural area.
It is highly recommended to spend a night camping, as observing the sunsets and sunrises of the desert of Coahuila is an unforgettable experience. Not to mention the amount of stars you can count on in the sky!
If you are looking for more adventure, there are marked routes that you can go on horseback or with a mountain bike. There are also those who take advantage of the descents of the land to practice sandboarding, which requires the use of special boards.
As a curious fact, the Dunes of Bilbao have been the scene of more than a dozen films, both national and international productions.
Whether you want to separate yourself from city noises or accelerate your heart with the excitement of extreme sports, the Dunes of Bilbao are a natural must-see for those who like to tour Mexico.
