Paragliding on the hill of Cubilete

FLY WITHOUT WINGS

Gliding in paragliding is one of the experiences closest to the feeling of an authentic bird that humans can reach. Paragliding is a sport that emerged in England in the 1960s. Walter Newmark modified some parachute designs to achieve one that climbed with air currents, allowing the individual to have more control over the route.

Later there were contributions from the American Domina Jalbert and, finally, the French André Bohn and Gérard Bosson, who in the town of Mieussy managed to take off a model running downhill. That was the beginning of a sport that is now popular around the world.

Several kilometers away it is already possible to see Cerro del Cubilete, in Guanajuato. With a maximum height of 2,500 meters, it is the highest peak in the entire state, and has gained a lot of popularity among lovers of paragliding because of favorable weather conditions, in addition to the amount of space that can be covered.

In addition to the launching platforms, Cerro del Cubilete houses a monumental statue of Cristo Rey, known as the Christ of the Mountain. With open arms and about 20 meters high, it seems to take care permanently of the city of León from one of the most visited sanctuaries in the whole country.

Thus, in a completely different environment you can rent equipment to perform an individual descent (for which, of course, previous experience is required), or hire a tandem paragliding service, where a specialized pilot takes care of all the complexity , letting you fully enjoy the emotions.

Trying to describe the feeling of flying through the air free of any engine or method of propulsion would not do it justice, so it is better to emphasize that this unique adventure awaits you in Guanajuato!
