It is considered one of the most important in Mexico ... It stands out for its exhibitions, variety of shows and for the large number of visitors ... And it is that the people of León are very skilled for trade and this scenario represents, also, a great showcase for their industrial facet. If you want to have fun and buy, schedule the second week of January.

What to Know?

  • The Fair has been celebrated since 1876 when the third centennial of the city was observed, thanks to printer Manuel García Moyeda who insisted on celebrating its founding.
  • The first January festivals included agricultural, industrial, and fine arts expositions in the Municipal building. As well there was a parade with floats that passed through the principal streets of the city.
  • Since January 12, 1962 it has been celebrated under the category of state fair, when it received the land of the old Center for the Promotion of Ranching at the foot of the Panamerican Highway.
  • The local system of transport of “orugas” and routes offer continual service every three minutes in an extended schedule from 5:50 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, and on weekends the service is extended to midnight.
  • For your security, the Fair includes cameras located in different points within the grounds.
  • León is the seventh largest city in the country with 1,436,733 inhabitants according to the 2010 census.
  • Since the 1940s the economy of the municipality basically has revolved around the productive chain of hides, shoes, wholesaling, and fine leather work, although from the beginning of the XXI century the economy has begun to be reoriented toward services and the automobile industry.
