Ixtlán del Río

Crosses and round pyramids

This is an enigmatic archaeological site characterized by round pyramids, and seemed to serve as a cult to "Ehécatl" (the god of wind). The tops of the pyramids contained perforated parapets in the shape of crosses, which defy explanation. The site is nicknamed "Los Toriles", because the structures resemble bull corrals.
